MarediModa 2023 exhibitors, private label area and collaterals grow
The twenty-first edition of MarediModa, to be held November 7-9 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes (click here for the free-pass), confirms the show’s central role in the international textile scene with the widest and, above all, most qualified proposal for the beachwear, lingerie and athleisure sectors. The number of exhibitors, product offerings and private label area are on the rise, and the calendar of events at the fair is even busier.
A tried-and-true and always up-to-date format that gives visitors access to all segments of the supply chain: from European fabric excellence, to accessories, to quality private label manufacturers, from design studios to labeling and packaging along with the highly anticipated Trends 2025, on-stage events and The Link competition awards ceremony.
“When, twenty-one years ago we decided to protect our fair with specific admission requirements to protect traceability many called us utopian,” emphasizes Claudio Taiana, President of MarediModa, “but today we can say that that choice has protected both our brand and the work of the companies that come here to present their collections. Those who come to Cannes know that they will find only the premium segment of our industry, without exceptions. This is a unique opportunity to touch over one hundred collections of fabrics and accessories, to discover the themes of trends in a dedicated area and with the engaging speeches of David Shah, to take advantage of all those collateral events that we renew every year and put on to serve our visitors. Among these I would like to mention the project THE LINK, one of the longest-running talent scouting in textile apparel that calls together the most talented fashion designers from European fashion schools. The goal is increasingly to present the full supply chain, provide creative insights and networking. In this sense we wanted to highlight more the private label area that is growing in number and quality because we believe it is an essential service for our visitors. Finally, for the second year, with the Flash project we are creating fashion content, photos and videos, for a group of companies that believe it is crucial to present their collections in the form of fashion garments in an editorial shoot.”
PRIVATE LABEL. OUTSOURCING AREA ON THE RISE.
The urgency to offer MarediModa visitors a selection of quality and highly reliable private label companies is now consecrated with a unique overview.
The outsourced garment makers area, introduced with a far-sighted choice in 2007 to enable brands to find reliable partners in Europe and the countries of the Mediterranean basin, has been constantly enriched over the years as a result of the exponential growth of the reshoring phenomenon. Returning to production in reliable and close districts and countries, without the obligation of large quantities, with a different focus on green issues and with a closer feeling than Asian partners. This year in Cannes there will be 14 companies from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Tunisia and Morocco. Reliable partners able to support in the development and production of beachwear, underwear and athleisure collections both the designer at his first collection and established brands or chains that need medium/large volume productions.
Geographical proximity, ease of communication, and shared ethical and environmental values make the decision to bring production back to Europe a necessary step for all brands in the sector.
The LYCRA Company and MarediModa together for a European preview
The LYCRA Company, a world leader in the development of innovative and sustainable fiber and technology solutions for the textile and apparel industry, renews its partnership with MarediModa and will present the European premiere of two new fibers, LYCRA® ADAPTIV BLACK and LYCRA® ADAPTIV XTRA LIFE, which combine the benefits of the original fiber with the additional features of two powerful branded technologies to deliver an elevated wear experience. Not to be missed is the talk by Alistair Williamson Vice President Emea of Lycra on sustainability.
Also on the subject of content, the Flash project, which debuted last year, is restarting with a growing number of companies. Each is dedicated a photo and video shoot designed to give value to fabrics in the form of experimental garments that accentuate their characteristics. New for 2023 is the SEAM spin-off dedicated to contract garment makers. With Athleisyou returns the inspirational gallery of sports prototypes made in collaboration with ISGMD creatively emphasizing performance, texture and versatility of textile collections from a selection of companies. A lighter quotation but at the same time ideal as food for thought is proposed by Cinema & Beachwear, a collage of unique and historical moments in which beachwear found itself starring not by chance in the most famous movies at the box office. An easy assist between the capital of European cinema and the swimsuit, made universal precisely on the Croisette.
Among the scheduled conferences, to be marked in the agenda, the appointment with Francesca Spinetta of Linea Intima, who will present an in-depth discussion on the themes of process and product innovation for the beachwear and underwear sector.
Nine finalists of THE LINK 2023 competition selected.
The Link, the talent scouting competition organized and promoted by MarediModa, reaches its final stage. The technical jury gathered at MarediModa headquarters selected the names of the nine finalists for the Beachwear, Athleisure and Underwear categories. The entries, from more than one hundred European schools, showed a very high creative level, heterogeneous projects united by great creativity free from commercial schemes. Now the nine selected students will have to make their collections with fabrics provided by MarediModa companies. The outfits will then be presented in Cannes within a dedicated area and during the fashion show on November 8 during the unmissable evening event of the MarediModa Cannes show.
