MarediModa Cannes 2026: Europe’s textile industry rebounds in Cannes with confidence, innovation and new fashion languages
More than one hundred fabric and accessory collections for Summer 2028, a renewed sense of optimism and the debut of Cannes Fashion Show: the 24th edition of the trade show confirms the value of Europe’s textile supply chain and introduces new ways of presenting collections.
The 24th edition of MarediModa Cannes closes on encouraging signs. The leading trade show for quality fabrics and accessories for beachwear, underwear and athleisure took place from 27 to 29 October at the prestigious Palais des Festivals, where leading European companies unveiled more than one hundred collections for Summer 2028. International buyers were offered an exclusive overview of new directions in creativity, textile research and innovation.
Against an international backdrop still marked by uncertainty, MarediModa recorded overall results in line with last year, with no decline. These were accompanied by renewed interest from industry professionals and a more focused, informed approach to researching and selecting collections. The signs point to a recovery in confidence and a greater willingness to resume purchasing programmes and plan future seasons.
“We had expected this edition to mark an acceleration after a period of stagnation linked to the international geopolitical situation. The figures are consistent with a return to programming and planning, reflected in more considered choices, closer examination of collections and a positive, vibrant atmosphere,” says Claudio Taiana, President of MarediModa. “The overview we offer is unique worldwide and showcases the very best of European textile production, which has always been the cornerstone of this trade show.”
CANNES FASHION SHOW: FABRICS TAKE CENTRE STAGE ON THE RUNWAY
This year’s edition was particularly rich in content and saw the debut of Cannes Fashion Show, a new format designed to showcase the creative and technological potential of fabrics through the language of fashion. The special catwalk presented prototypes made using collections from a selection of exhibiting companies, highlighting not only garment design but, above all, the features and expressive possibilities of the most innovative materials.
The project is part of FLASH!, an initiative conceived and organised by MarediModa to tell the story of fabrics through contemporary visual narratives, turning them into the protagonists of photo shoots and creative videos. This approach moves beyond the traditional display of fabric swatches and introduces new forms of communication, presenting textile products in a creative, emotional and immediately recognisable way.
At the heart of the project were prototype garments made by the ISGMD workshop: a mini-collection developed using fabrics selected from participating companies. Its aim was to give the best possible showcase to the bestsellers presented at the trade show and demonstrate their practical application potential.
With this new initiative, MarediModa strengthens its role as an international platform for Europe’s textile supply chain, bringing together manufacturing excellence, style research and new product-presentation strategies. It confirms the show’s determination to evolve alongside the market, providing companies and buyers with increasingly effective tools to interpret trends and meet the challenges of the coming seasons.
